Hope's Info...

Hope's Story...

We rescued Hope from a high kill shelter and she was very thin, had demodex mange and was very scared.  She has received a lot of TLC and is now happy and looking great.  Hope is approximately 6 years old and weighs 55 pounds. She is good with some dogs but can be selective so she will need an experienced owner and has to be the only dog in the home.  She does get anxious when she sees other dogs on leash and will need continued leash training.  Hope loves to run and play and also loves cuddles! She loves her walks and likes riding in the car. Hope will need a home that has the time to continue her training and she will need plenty of daily exercise as she has a good deal of energy. Hope loves all people but due to her size, we will not place her in a home with young children.

In December 2019, Hope had swelling to her right eye.  She saw an ophthalmologist who did an ultrasound, MRI and a needle aspirate of her eye.  They were unable to determine the exact cause of the swelling so she was treated with steroids for several months.  The following year the swelling got worse and we were advised to have her eye removed, which we did in December 2020.  A spindle cell tumor was removed from behind the eye along with her eye.  The tumor was low grade, grade 1 and her eye was normal and visual.  Unfortunately, the only way to get to the tumor was to remove the eye.  Hope has adjusted well to having one visual eye and is her happy usual self, as if nothing happened.  She has had no further issues in the eye orbit area.

We have numerous applications for Dexter and are no longer taking applications for him. If you submitted an application already, please know that we are currently reviewing and processing applications and will have an update by May 22nd at the latest.  We thank you for your patience.

Dexter was surrendered to our rescue out of love because his owner did not have enough time for him and he loves constant attention. He is just under 2 years old and weighs 90 pounds. He is good with other dogs but because of his size, he will need to be in a home with bigger dogs. He is good with kids and people. Also because of his size, we would like to place him in a home with older children. He is housebroken and crate trained. Dexter will need daily walks, plenty of exercise, an active household and someone to continue his training as he has had several sessions with a professional trainer. Dexter is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, fecal tested, flea/heartworm treated. If you are seeing this post, then Dexter is still available for adoption. You will need to complete an adoption application on our website here.

***We do not typically adopt out of Southern California and we do not ship our dogs.***

Raffi was living a lonely life on the streets and was so scared  when he was rescued by Hope For Paws Rescue. They chased him for quite some time before they were finally able to catch him.  We teamed up with Hope For Paws to help find Raffi his forever home.  Raffi is shy with people he does not know but warms up once he gets to know you and feels safe.  It does take him time to come out of his shell so he will need someone who is patient.  He has limited hearing but he can hear louder sounds. He will need an experienced owner as he needs guidance and someone to build his confidence.  Raffi loves other dogs and he will need a home with another confident dog that he can watch and learn from.  He is tolerant of cats too. He will need a calm household where he is not left for long hours and no young children but calm older children are okay.  Raffi loves to go on walks and rides well in the car.  Raffi is about 9 years old and weighs 9 pounds.

In September 2021, Raffi was diagnosed with a mild heart murmur caused by early stage mitral valve disease. He was seen by a cardiologist in late September 2021 where he got an echocardiogram.  He does not need any medication or treatment at this time but will need annual check-ups with a cardiologist.  Raffi also had a full vet exam, senior blood panel with thyroid, heartworm test, fecal test, dental cleaning, mouth x-rays and chest x-rays back in Sept 2021.

Jessie was turned in to the shelter as a stray. He was scared and in need of some TLC. We rescued this sweet boy and now he is safe. Jessie was nervous when he first came to us but he has settled in and is doing much better now. He was very matted and had to be shaved down. Jessie is about 1-2 years old and weighs 12 pounds. We believe he is a Maltipoo possibly mixed with some Yorkie. He is good with other dogs and does best with calmer, balanced dogs. He is curious of cats but did fine when meeting them. He will need someone with experience with scared/anxious dogs who can build his confidence as he will sometimes, but now always growl and show his teeth when being handled, picked up or groomed. He will need a calm household and another dog to help show him the way would be best for him. He will need a patient home/person to give him time to come out of his shell and learn that he is safe. Also someone that is not gone long hours would be best.

Jelly Belly's Info...

Breed: Staffordshire Terrier
Color: Fawn With Black
Age:  10 years
Size: Med 46 lbs
Sex: Female

I am already spayed, microchipped, up to date with shots, dewormed, flea treatment, fecal tested, blood panel/urinalysis, dental cleaning, house-trained, good with older kids (teenagers), and good with some dogs but can be picky.

Jelly Belly's Story...
Poor little Jelly Belly was turned in as a stray at a high kill shelter. She was in terrible shape and no one wanted this poor little girl. We rescued her and now she is safe and happy. We have her on a good diet and she is doing great. Jelly Belly is about 10 years old, and weighs 46 pounds. She is good with other dogs but can be alpha and likes to be in charge, so she would be best as an only dog and someone with bully breed experience. She likes to chase cats so a home without cats would be best.  She can be shy at times when meeting new people but once she warms up, she will sit on your lap for pets and love. She is medium energy and will need an owner who has the time to continue her training and exercise her daily with short walks. Jelly Belly is looking for someone who will love her forever. The adoption fee is $300 and Jelly is fully vetted.
